EMERGENCE
For the creation of this short film, I collaborated with the dancers and conductor of San Francisco Ballet and architect Kyter Steffes to produce an original work in a digital, VR environment before translating it into physical space.
Filmed and produced during the Covid-19 pandemic at the site of chef Douglas Keane’s restaurant, Cyrus (courtesy of Walden Studios), all choreography, shots, movement, and pre-production planning were executed remotely in a VR model simulating the architecture, space, and movement of the sun and its effect on lighting patterns.
This process allowed the artists to visualize the final product before assembling together for the first time on the day of filming and acted as an exploration of how physical art can be created in a digital environment, as well as how to replicate and preserve its digital twin.
